July 28, 1940: Young Life Tent Campaign occurs at Waugh and Peden St. - only second YL function in history.

October 16, 1941: Young Life is incorporated.

1956-1959: YL volunteer-led club is active at Lamar and Bellaire and led byCliff Richards, George Sheffer, Wally Howard.

Early 1960's: Unofficial club at Alief H.S. is led by Ron Craddit.  Ron continues to lead for 30 years!

1965: Brent Johnson becomes first suburban staff in Houston.

1966: First official YL suburban club in Houston is held at the home of John and Elizabeth Hill; First Houston YL committee is formed; Church support is received from Rev. Lawson-Wheeler Ave. Baptist, Jack Lancaster-First Presbyterian, Claxton Monro-Episcopal Priest; Memorial H.S. students Sam Kent and Jack Lesch go to camp at Star Ranch

1973: Rudy Howard is hired as first urban staff and begins urban work at Yates H.S.

1988: Joe Walters is hired as South Texas Regional Director; 31 clubs in Houston.

1992: Roger Wernette is hired as Metro Director.

1996: Tiger Dawson forms Metro Steering Committee and Urban Endowment Campaign.

1997: John Wayland is hired as Regional Director.

October 1, 1998: Metro Houston Region is formed.

2000: Patti Stoetzner is hired as the first Regional Development Director to grow multicultural ministry.

2001: Eric Scofield becomes Regional Director.

2004-2005: Urban/Multicultural areas increase from 4 to 6, now including Alief, Central Houston, Heights, North Houston, East Houston, and South Central Houston.

2005: John Haddad becomes Regional Director.

2007: Regional structure is changed and Fred Driver is hired as Multicultural Director.

2009: Brian Meza is hired as Latino Initiative Director; Capernaum begins in Brazos Valley.

2010: James Rockwell is hired as Regional Director; First Houston Latino Initiative club starts.

2011: Brian Reeder hired as Regional Training Director, YL College Initiative begins with Douglas TigTig as College and Alumni Director; First full time Houston Latino Initiative staff is hired and placed in the area.

2012: Houston YoungLives becomes fastest growing ministry in Houston and the country.  First stand alone YoungLives area begins.

2013: Houston YL celebrates 120 ministries, 40 of which are multicultural.

2014: 40 in 5 Campaign begins with the goal of doubling multicultural ministries.
